What’s the Difference Between Mercedes-Benz Service A and Service B?

Mercedes-Benz technician servicing a vehicle

If you’ve just brought your first Mercedes-Benz home to Austin, it’s likely that you’ve also learned the terms “Mercedes-Benz Service A” and “Mercedes-Benz Service B.” What are these services and how do they differ? The service team at Mercedes-Benz of Georgetown is here to explain everything you should know! Service A and Service B are critical maintenance intervals that occur on a routine basis. Let’s learn more about what they each entail, below.

Your Mercedes-Benz Service A Checklist

You should schedule Mercedes-Benz Service A* after one year or 10,000 miles, whichever milestone comes first. Services performed during the visit could vary a bit depending on your model year, but the general Mercedes-Benz Service A checklist involves:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

Your Mercedes-Benz Service B Checklist

You should schedule Mercedes-Benz Service B* after two years or 20,000 miles, whichever milestone you hit first. The standard Mercedes-Benz Service B checklist includes:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

What’s Different in Service A and Service B?

By now, you may have surmised that Service A and Service B are designed to ensure that the average Round Rock driver gets crucial Mercedes-Benz maintenance approximately once per year. But, their included services are nearly identical, so why have two separate intervals? During Service B, your vehicle receives two additional services: a brake fluid replacement and cabin air filter replacement. Select CLA and GLA AMG® models also receive engine air filter replacement during Service B, but your service tech will know whether this applies to you if you drive either of these models.
